In January 2023, Alex’s Place launched in partnership with the Alex Panton Foundation and Ministry of Health & Wellness.
This youth-friendly centre complements the Accident & Emergency department by providing
care and support to adolescents experiencing mental health issues. Alex’s Place provides
compassionate care and mental health support for children and adolescents between the ages
of 10 – 20 who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
Both walk-ins and referrals are welcome to come to Alex’s Place during operational hours.
A dedicated multi-disciplinary team (including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, paediatric/adolescent mental health nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists) provides crisis response, risk management, and community outreach services. When necessary, individuals may be escorted to the A&E department following a triage process to address conditions that require immediate medical attention.
Alex’s Place is dedicated to collaborating with local charities, mental health providers, youth services, and government bodies, Alex’s Place to take significant steps forward in delivering an integrated, responsive service tailored to the unique needs of our community’s youth.
