Event Details

Since starting as a single Race in New York in 2009, RBC Race for the Kids has grown into a series of several events that take place around the world. Altogether, 360,000 + participants have raised more than CAD$82 million for youth charities since inception. In 2022 we saw over 37,000 participants and raised more than $8.5 million CAD for youth charities across the globe. The inaugural Cayman RBC Race for the Kids event will benefit the Alex Panton Foundation, also known as APF, a Non-Profit Organisation dedicated to raising awareness of mental health issues affecting children and young adults in the Cayman Islands, with a particular focus on anxiety and depression. This Foundation was established in memory of Alex Panton, who in 2010 tragically succumbed to the effects of severe depression, at the age of 16. Jane and Wayne Panton, Alex’s parents, along with some of Alex’s closest friends and their mothers founded APF to help build awareness and reduce the stigma around mental illness. The Alex Panton Foundation aims to provide hope and resources to friends, family, teachers, and classmates to help save the lives of children and young adults struggling with mental illness. As we continue to deal with the visible and not so visible impacts of the pandemic, mental health awareness, advocacy and support have become even more important and especially for our youth.
