No, the Kids Helpline does not provide therapy or clinical services or crisis intervention – anyone in crisis should call 911. Our Kids Helpline is simply a safe space for emotional support listening services.

  • Origin: In 2018, the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC) launched a Kids Helpline to support children and teens in domestic abuse situations.
  • Evolution: Recognising a broader need for mental health support, APF partnered with CICC to expand the helpline’s focus beyond domestic abuse to cover a wider range of mental health challenges.
  • Transition: By the end of 2022, APF agreed to fully build out the project as one of our main initiatives, revitalising it by adding a textline service and a comprehensive suite of educational resources.

We remain grateful to the CICC for laying the groundwork for this essential service.
