As our academic year comes to a close, we are pleased to present the statistics and summary information of our ELP, also known as Zippy’s & Apple’s Friends.

What is Zippy’s & Apple’s Friends?
The Alex Panton Foundation partnered with the Partnership for Children, a UK based non-profit organization, to launch the Zippy’s & Apple’s Friends programme in 2019 for children ages 5-9 in the Cayman islands. The objective is to help children develop skills to communicate effectively, learn and cope with anxieties. The SEND programme, for children with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, was also launched last year.

The programmes help children develop their own positive strategies to deal with problems through engaging activities, stories, discussion, games, role-play and art.

Completed 2019 – 2020 Cycle
A total of 25 participants were trained.

• 21 actively participating Teachers.
• 6 actively participating Master Trainers.
• 8 participating schools and private / NGO partners.
• 472 Children have been reached so far by the ELP. This includes children ranging from ages 5-9, as well as older children with special educational needs and/or disability (SEND).

To evaluate the ELP’s effectiveness, APF has collected pre-implementation data from all 21 actively participating teachers, and is now in the process of collecting post-implementation data through the distribution of the UK Partnership for Children’s “Teacher Class Evaluation Form” survey. This report will soon be made available.

Plan for 2020 – 2021
So far the numbers indicate that 129 new teachers and 1942 new students will be signing up for the new academic year. A total of 10 new schools will be joining the ELP in the new academic year.
