World Mental Health Day 2021

Mental health care for all: let’s make it a reality

World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is acknowledged annually on 10th October each year. This year, their theme is “Mental Health in an Unequal World”. To honour this day, the Alex Panton Foundation (APF) has put together a video discussing what we are actively doing to make a change here in our own community. Mental health is equally as important as physical health, and our goal as a Foundation is to help those who need mental health care the most, no matter their economic background, so everyone is treated as equal.

According to WHO,

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on people’s mental health. Some groups, including health and other frontline workers, students, people living alone, and those with pre-existing mental health conditions, have been particularly affected. And services for mental, neurological and substance use disorders have been significantly disrupted.”

The Alex Panton Foundation is making efforts to remedy the inequality of mental health care access in our community. Our initiatives such as our free support groups Breaking Barriers and Teen Talk, our Financial Assistance Programme, and our Youth Ambassador Programme are just some of the free initiatives we offer to help those in our community who struggle with mental health, and a means to find care difficult.

Stay tuned for our week-long campaign starting on 4th October, and the launch of our video, to be released on Sunday 10th, October, in honour of World Mental Health Day.
